Lindos is a spectacularly beautiful setting for a wedding, ideal for such a celebration of love and life. We have chosen a selection of enchanting venues within our village where you may be married in a civil wedding ceremony which will be conducted by the Registrar of Lindos.
Please note that unless both parties to the marriage are members of the Greek Orthodox faith, the ceremony will take place outside the respective chapels.
St Paul’s Chapel, St Paul’s Bay, Lindos
Perhaps the most picturesque setting of all, this tiny chapel is perched below a cliff face in the shadow of the acropolis of Lindos, next to the turquoise waters of St Paul’s Bay.
This is one of the most popular venues for weddings in Lindos as the surroundings make for such fantastic photographs. The chapel’s sea front location means that you have the option of either all or some of your wedding party arriving by boat. Alternatively, musicians playing traditional Greek musical instruments can accompany you on your descent from the village down the path to the chapel itself. This is the perfect venue for anyone who imagines having the sand between their toes for their wedding album photos!
St George Pachymachiotes Chapel, Lindos
This charming traditional chapel is positioned overlooking the sweep of Lindos bay with views towards the plateia (village square) and the surrounding olive and orange groves, across Megalos Gialós (the main beach).
The setting is absolutely typical of what one expects of a Greek village wedding. To complement the atmosphere, traditional musicians can accompany you as you walk through the maze of bougainvillea filled streets to make your vows.
St Dimitrios Chapel, Lindos
This is a darling little chapel set dramatically beneath the acropolis of Lindos a top a terraced area and is approached along a charming stone path.
The panoramic views across Megalos Gialós (the main beach) are breathtaking and provide an amazing background for your wedding photographs.
A traditional mode of transport for a Greek village bride in days gone was a donkey festooned with flower garlands and St Dimitrios Chapel would be a fabulous setting for adding such a traditional Greek touch.
The Registrar of Lindos is happy to conduct civil wedding ceremonies at the Municipal Offices in Lindos and at a selection of hotels in the Lindos area (an extra charge by the registrar of €140 - €180 applies to all hotel venues) as well as in the surrounding villages.
